General Info about Classes at Academy

​​

  • Classes are held in Terms, Winter (Jan-Mar), Spring (Apr-Jun), Summer (July-Sep), Autumn (Oct-Dec)

  • Each term consists of 10 sessions (unless otherwise stated), with each session lasting 50 to 60 minutes

  • Cost for each term is that of 100 euro for 10 sessions

  • Each session includes both theory and practice to allow students to keep focus 

  • Main focus is on children structured classes in levels, see Children Levels, with a Level taking four terms to complete

  • Also offered are continuous learning classes for specific groups, like reinforced learning for Under 8s, Adult Beginners, etc.

  • Students will be guided for appropriate class to take in each term, keeping in mind the progress and best interest of the students

  • An established online training system is used, having lessons and exercises available to students at home and allow tutors to follow students progress.

  • Participants will rewarded a certificate when learning how to play the game and a memento when completing a full level

  • Upon request, individual  one to one or small group sessions can be considered, with price quoted on request

General Info
Children

Levels for Children

Level 1 (Pawn)

​

Covered in 4 terms.

​

Part 1 is to learn the game, and Parts 2-4 introduced technique to improve.

​

Target Audience:

  • Children aged less than 18 

  • Start in part 1 if no or very basic knowledge of the game of Chess

  • Start in part 2 if comfortably playing a full game of Chess

​

Objective: 

  • Learn the game of chess - be able to play a full game

  • Able to participate in kids tournaments

  • Reach rating of around 1000

​

Level 2 (Knight)

 

 

Covered in 4 terms.

​

Advanced technique for Kids who have very good foundations of the Game

​

Target Audience:

  • Children aged less than 18

  • Very strong basics of the game or Completed Level 1

  • Rating around 1000

​

​

​

Objective: 

  • Be more competitive in Kids events

  • Start playing classical tournaments

  • Build up of technique in all phases of the game

  • Reach rating of 1200-1400

​

Level 3 (Bishop)

 

 

Covered in 4 terms.

​

Moving to mastering the game for Kids who are regular club  tournament players 

​

Target Audience:

  • Children aged less than 18 

  • Good knowledge in all aspects of the game with good  experience in Kids events or Completed Level 2

  • Rating around 1400

​

Objective: 

  • Be more competitive at Club level

  • Start mastering advanced techniques in all phases of the game

  • Reach rating of 1600-1800

​

Reinforced Learning for Under 8s

​

Help young chess players in small groups to consolidate foundations of the game before moving back to Level 1 Part 2 

​

Target Audience:

  • Children aged up to 8 years old 

  • Know how to play a game or completed Level 1 Part 1

  • Needs reinforced learning due to the young age

​

Objective: 

  • Consolidate basics of the game

  • Gain confidence with basic technique

  • Material adapted according to participants

  • Ready to move to Level 1 Part 2

Sessions for Adults

Adults

Beginners

​

Continuous Learning for Adults who know how to play a game and want to start learning basic technique of the Game

​

​

Target Audience:

  • Anyone older than 16 

  • Capable of comfortably playing a full game of Chess

​

​

Objective: 

  • Learn technique for all type of Combinations

  • Go through all basic endgame and middlegame techniques 

  • Start to participate in classical tournaments

Intermediate​

​

Continuous Learning for Adults who have good foundational technique and are willing to be presented with more  advanced technique

​

​

Target Audience:

  • Anyone older than 16 

  • Comfortable with basic exercises for all type of Combinations

  • Hold basic endgame and middlegame techniques

​

Objective: 

  • To be more competitive at Club level

  • Build up of different techniques in all phases of the game

​
