Swieqi Chess Club Leagues - 2024

​

Dates: 

  • Division 1 - 21st April till 11th August
    Division 2 - 28th April till 18th August
    (Assuming     9 rounds per division but there can be more games depending on applicants)

  • Around 4 Months with around 9-11 Games 

  • Deadline for Applications is Wednesday 17th April 2024

​

Time Control:

  • 90 mins / player for whole game +30 secs per move

​

Info:

  • Games on Sunday at 5pm, each division a round every two weeks 

    • E.g. 21st April Division 1, 28th April Division 2, 5th May Division 1, etc

  • Number of Divisions will be determined based on number of applications

  • Aiming for a single round robin tournament (all players play each other once)  

  • Applicants will be split into divisions based on rating

  • Top 2 players in each Division gets promoted to the higher division in next season

  • Prizes:

    • Prize Money for top 2 of each division;
      200€ for 1st Division Winner & 100€ for 1st Division Runner-Up  
      150€ for 2nd Division Winner & 75€ for 2nd Division Runner-Up

    • Top 3 Division 1 and Winner Division 2 will have the right to represent the Swieqi Chess Club in the Italian Chess League in 2024, with prize and including 5 preparation training sessions at no cost, but travelling and accommodation costs are not included.   

    • Trophies/Mementos for top 3 placed in each division

  • Members ... Juniors 30€, Seniors 35€, Adults 50€, Life 30€

  • Non-Members ... Juniors 50€, Seniors 55€, Adults 70€

Kids U/12 & U/18 Rapids - April Event

​

Dates: 

  • Saturday 27th February

  • Under 12s 10:30 - 13:00

  • Under 18s (FIDE Rated) 14:00 - 17:30

​

Time Control:

  • 10m+5s (10 mins with 5 secs increment per move)

​

Info:

  • The Students Chess Series consists of one day
    events throughout the year     played on a Saturday of
    every month

  • Two separate events for U/18 and U/12 respectively, to
    better support the young players at their first
    experiences in a chess tournament 

  • Open to any student under 18 yrs (turn 18 in 2024)

  • Any U/12 can decide to play in the U/18 tournament
    but can only choose one event

  • U/18 Event is FIDE rated

  • Seats limited to 32 players per event

  • Tournament format will be that of a Swiss System

  • Refreshments available on the day.

Weekend Classical Open / Newcomers 
22-24 March​

Dates: 

  • 22-24 March 2024 (5 Rounds)

Schedule:​

  • Round 1 Friday 22th Mar at 18:30 (game starts at 19:00)

  • Round 2 Saturday 23rd Mar at 10:30

  • Round 3 Saturday 23rd Mar at 14:00

  • Round 4 Sunday 24th Mar at 10:30

  • Round 5 Sunday 24th Mar at 14:00

  • Prize Giving after Round 5 at around 17:00

Time Control:

  • Classic Time Control

  • 60m+30s (60 mins, with 30 secs increment per move)

Info:

  • Two parallel events, an Open and one for Newcomers

  • Newcomers event is for Under 18s in their first experience 
    in classical chess

  • Open event is open to all chess players

  • FIDE rated 

  • Tournament format will be that of a Swiss System
     

Prizes:

  • Prize Money to be announced before Round 1 starts​

  • Trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places​
