​Chess Experience:

A Lecturer by profession with over 20 years of teaching experience in the Education Sector.  Having taught age levels between the ages of 4 and 20, I began teaching Junior beginners in 2016 shortly after the establishing the Swieqi Chess Club.   

 

Over the last few years I have obtained several FIDE Instructor qualifications and am a Chess Arbiter at National Level.

Sessions Starting from

Monday 8th of May 2023

​

Each level consists of 36 Individual sessions with each session

taking 60 minutes.

Each level is run over 1 scholastic year - no sessions during 

Easter, Summer and Christmas Holidays.  

An annual 15 euro admin fee will be charged per student to

cover software licenses

certificate and medal are awarded to students who

successfully complete each level.  

Sessions will be cancelled if there are not enough participants.

Level 1 - Beginners (for Juniors 5-16)

CLASSES HELD ON

Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday

from 5pm - 6pm

​

€10 per session

​

Target Audience:

  • Would you like to play chess but you are an absolute beginner or only know the moves? This course is just for you. Your strength may reach 1400 Rating points if you take it

  • Children aged less than 16 

  • No knowledge or very basic, on the game of Chess

​

Objective: 

  • Learn the game of chess - be able to play a full game

  • Able to participate in kids tournaments

​

Level 2 - Intermediate 

(for Juniors 5-16)

CLASSES HELD ON

Thursdays

from 5pm - 6pm

​

€10 per session

​

Target Audience:

  • You already beat beginners easily but defeating better chess players proves a hard nut to crack? You can develop your knowledge further here. Your strength may reach 1600 Rating points if you take it.

  • Children aged less than 16 

  • Should have completed Level 1 - Beginners

​

Objective: 

  • To be more competitive at Club level

  • Build up of different techniques in various phases of the game 

​

Level 3 - Advanced

(for Juniors 5-16)

Target Audience:

  • If you can hardly find anyone to beat you among your friends, then try your hand at this Course. Your strength may reach 1800 Rating points or higher if you take it.

  • Anyone older than 16 and willing to start playing chess

  • Should have completed Level 2 - Intermediate

 

Objective: 

  • Learn the game of chess - be able to play a full game

  • Able to participate in tournaments

Chess Openings  

(for Juniors 8 -16

CLASSES HELD ON

Monday or Wednesday â€‹

from 6pm - 7pm

​

€10 per session

​

Target Audience:

  • You get thorough opening knowledge with white and black from this course.
    Choose it as your first opening repertoire or for playing online games.

  • Players between the ages of 10 and 16 and

    capable of comfortably playing a full game of Chess

  • Should have completed Level 3 - Advanced

​

Objective: 

  • To be more competitive at Club level

  • Learning an opening repertoire to use at tournament level
