Sixteen year old Vince Kosik won the first Open Rapid held at the Swieqi Chess Club on Sunday 18th February with a perfect score. Twenty four players played the event and this included much more experienced, and on paper stronger, opponents. Onurcan Pala took second place, losing only to Kosik, whilst Kagan Emre Oral took third place on tie-break from a four player tie. Other winners included, Elena Ghitza as best female, Leonardo Zangrilli as best junior (under 16) and Christian Schembri as best unrated.
