Gabriel Gauci wins Secondary Arena Series 2025/26
March marked another successful Swieqi Chess Club Junior Rapids with a very strong Under 12s, and the 6th and final Secondary Arena for the 2025/26 series. All this was held on Saturday 28th March.
Secondary Arena 2025/26 - 6th Event and Series Results - Gabriel Gauci dominates events
Gabriel Gauci dominated the Secondary Arena 2025/26 Series by winning 4 on 6 events. He was crowned as the Secondary Arena 2025/26 Winner. The table below shows the top 10 of this special table. De La Salle players secured 5 spots of the top 10, which make them clear Secondary Inter-Schools favourites.


6th Secondary Arena
The sicth event of the Secondary Arena attracted twenty-seven players and well over 10 schools represented. Gabriel Gauci (De La Salle) won the event with five and a half points. Second place, was taken by the same Karl Yousif (University of Malta), playing his first event from this Secondary Arena series. Third place went to Zachary Briffa (MVPA), who also took second overall in the series.
Other category prizes were rewarded:
Mark Mikhail Gusarov - Best Under 16
Matthew Callus - Best Under 14
Haoxuan Shan - Best Unrated

Under 12 Event
24 young players played a stronger than usual Under 12s, with representatives from various schools. Nikol Borg won the event with a perfect score, which is a massive achievement considering he is only 8 years old. Second place went to Keshav Reyansh who only lost to Nikol, and had a better tie-break to Mark Davydov who took third place.
