Beliavskii and Gauci win SCC Juniors October 2025 Edition

The monthly Swieqi Chess Club Junior Rapids held on 25th October, included the usual Under 12s and started the series of Secondary Arenas. The Secondary Arena is the tournament series that the Malta Chess Federation entrusted the Swieqi Chess Club to organise it. To accommodate this the club organised the Under 12s in the morning and the Secondary Arena in the afternoon. In total these events attracted around 50 players.

The next junior events will be held on Saturday 29th November.

Under 12 Event

Twenty three young players played the Under 12s, which turned out to be well fought for the top places. Vladislav Beliavskii won the event with 4.5 points, whilst on joint 2nd place, but 2nd with better tie-break was Francesco Catania and 3rd was taken by Luke Fenech.

1st Secondary Arena

The series of Secondary Arena started with the first arena out of six, being attended by twenty six players. The event was won by Gabriel Gauci with a perfect score! Second place, was taken by Mark Mikhail Gusarov and third place went to Hayley Thornton. Other category prizes rewarded included the Best Under 14 won by Zachary Briffa, Best Under 12 won by Samuel Spiteri and Best Unrated won by Matthew Callus.
