Nikol Borg and Matthew Portelli wins Maypole Easter Juniors April 2025

The monthly Swieqi Chess Club Junior Rapids for April was sponsored by Maypole making it a great Easter atmosphere for all kids playing the event.

The Under 12s and Under 18s tournaments were also very contested, with almost 30 players playing the event.

The Under 12s fielded one player Under 8, and five players Under 10. The youngest player, 7 year old, Nikol Borg emerged as the winner with a perfect score of 5 points. Second place was taken by Hanchang Wang, whilst Guzi Abela took the third prize.

The Under 18s event was won by Matthew Portelli with full points. On second place on four points placed two players, with John Refalo taking second place on tie-break, and Dante Pace taking third place.
