Thomas Azzopardi and Gabriel Gauci win SCC Juniors May 2025

The monthly Swieqi Chess Club Junior Rapids for May took place on Saturday 10th May, with the usual Under 12s and Under 18s tournaments.
The average age of the Under 12s is going down, this time round being less than 10 years. The tournament included three players in the Under 8 category, and eight players Under 10. The winner ended up being an 8 year old - Thomas Azzopardi. Second place went to Tristan Jes Scicluna and third was 7 year old, Nikol Borg.

An all play event, with 7 rounds, was played for the Under 18s event. The event was very strong and provided good experience for all players. The event was won by Gabriel Gauci who dropped only half point. Second place, on tie-break, was taken by John Refalo with Zachary Briffa taking third place.
