Tristan Scicluna and Amir Ibragimov win SCC Juniors August 2025

The monthly Swieqi Chess Club Junior Rapids for August took place on Saturday 9th August, with the usual Under 12s and Under 18s tournaments. A very nice turnout of 34 players battled it out with great fair play and chess skills shown by these young players.

The Under 12s, consisted of 20 players, and it was nice to see all players score in at least one game. The winner ended up being Tristan Jes Scicluna on full points, whilst on joint 2nd place, but 2nd with better tie-break was Isabella Lucica and 3rd was taken by Gianluigi Zammit. Participation medals were give to all players to encourage them to keep working on improving their chess skills.

The Under 18s event is always a strong event, and this was the case again with 14 players. The event was won by Amir Imbragimov from Kazakhstan and who is visiting Malta . Second place, was taken by the top rated player of the event Ziyang Lin and third place went to Keshav Reyansh on tie-break.
